The Chirchik Transformator Zavodi begins its history in 1932. At that time, the first electromechanical workshops were established to manufacture and repair equipment for the future cascade of Chirchik hydroelectric power plant with the nitrogen fertilizer combine.
Based on the existing facilities, the "Electroshield" plant was organized, becoming the only enterprise in Central Asia producing power transformers, substations, electrical shields, and other electrical equipment. Equipment and personnel from the evacuated Leningrad plant "Electropult" were used in order to establish the plant.
The plant continues its work, mastering the creation of new transformers and substations. New equipment is put into operation, and the staff is replenished with specialists. In this year, the plant was renamed to "Chirchik Transformator Zavodi”
Serial production of transformers is mastered, including the creation of transformers for electric locomotives, mobile substations, and compact transformers. With the independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the enterprise is privatized and renamed to OJSC "Transformer" by the decision of the shareholders' meeting.
Conditions are created for the serial production of TDTH-40000/110, TDTH-63000/110, TRDN-40000/110, and TRDN-63000/110 transformers. The enterprise is renamed to JSC "Transformer" by the decision of the shareholders' meeting.
The plant is renamed Chirchik Transformator Zavodi. The plant is transformed into a joint venture with foreign capital in the form of an open joint-stock company.
A global modernization of production is carried out to increase the quantity of manufactured products and support its quality at the proper level. Additional qualified specialists are hired in various production areas, and new foreign equipment is installed.
As part of the Program for Privatization of State Property for 2015-2016, in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 06.02.2014 No. PP-2123, the state stake in JSC 'Chirchik transformer zavodi' in the amount of 99.5% is to be transferred to the initial charter fund of JSC 'Uzeltehsanoat.
